ELECTRA BARAKOS - Associate Vocal Power Instructor
Electra Barakos grew up in Athens, Greece and has been raised by a musical family. Her father being a professional, and well-known bass player in Greece has inspired her to make music her life. Electra attended in Greece a Musical High School where she started to develop professionally her musical skills in theory, singing, and piano.
From a very early age Electra has been involved in music, and has had the chance to perform with numerous famous performers in the music industry. Her performances gave her the chance to open her mind to different styles of music.
Upon graduating from High School, Electra moved back to Los Angeles to continue her musical studies. She is now a graduate of California State University of Northridge and holds a Bachelors degree in Music - Vocal performance. During her time at CSUN she was committed to classical singing and had the privilege to perform in may operas. Among the operatic roles Electra has played include Genevieve, in “Suor Angelica,” Gretel in “Hansel and Gretel,” and supporting roles in “The Merry Wives of Windsor,” and “Julius Caesar.”
She was also a member of the well renowned choir “The Northridge Singers”, directed by Paul Smith. With the Northridge Singers, Electra had the honor of performing at Carnegie Hall in New York.
Electra has always embraced all styles of music, constantly testing her abilities. She now has her own rock/pop band performing at clubs in Hollywood such as the “Viper Room,” “Aqualounge,” “BB Kings” to name a few. Her latest EP was released in 2008. Electr is currently recording some new material for the release of her debut album.
Her versatility, talent, knowledge, experience, and love for music, has also helped her become an excellent teacher to students of all ages. She teaches all styles of music from classical, to rock, pop, R&B, Blues, musical theatre, country, and international. She has successfully helped her students launch major record deals, as well as getting them admitted to some of the most prestigious schools such as NYU. She introduces her students to musicianship, music theory, performance techniques, vocal technique, developing a unique style and making each song their own.
As a performer, musician and teacher, Electra has a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer. Electra is a certified instructor in the Elisabeth Howard Vocal Power Method and is on the staff of the Vocal Power Academy. She is thrilled to share her knowledge with all the aspiring talented singers out there. |
