Join me in Italy this May and June for workshops, master classes and lessons in Brescia and Grosetto. Anna Gotti and I will be giving exams to eight more Vocal Power Instructors for certification in the Vocal Power Method. These singer/teachers are traveling from all over Italy including Sicily to study for months and then take the exam where they must demonstrate teaching the Vocal Power Method and sing two songs.
We have twenty-two Vocal Power certified Instructors throughout Italy including Bolzano, Sardegna, Rome, Firenze, Brescia, Crema, Milan, Padova, Siena, and more cities. Very excited to tell you that my book "SING!" translated into Italian by Eva Simontacchi with Anna Gotti, that comes with 4 cds and the "Born to Sing" DVD, is now being published and distributed throughout Italy by Volonte Co. in Milan. In June, 2011 after working two weeks in Italy, Elisabeth will go to Paris to train more singer/voice teachers in the Vocal Power Method and then to Birmingham, England to do a workshop for the National Associateion of Teachers of Singing. In July and August Elisabeth will teach a Jazz master class on a Crystal Cruise line to Alaska.The theme for the trip is "Emerging Artists."

News from Devon Guthrie
Devon Guthrie, Juilliard graduate student covered the role of "Amor" at the Metropolitan Opera in 2011. She covered a role in Santa Fe in the 2010 summer season. She was a finalist in the Licia Albanese competition. Devon won First Place in the art song division of the Liederkranz Competition in New York. She received $5,000. In June, 2011 Devon will sing a role in '"The Cunning Little Vixen" with the New York Philharmoic Orchestra.
Griffith Frank, a senior at UCLA, is on YouTube singing "In a Very Unusual Way" for the soundtrack of the movie, "Nine."

News from Julie Bermel
Julie Bermel is graduating with a masters in Opera from Boston Conservaory this May. While at the conservatory she has sung the roles of Pamina in "The Magic Flute," Alice in Verdi's Falstaff, Mom in the childrens' opera "Little Red's most unusual day!", Magda in Puccini's "La Ronide", Gretchen (The Mother) in "Hansel and Gretel", and is currently working on Yum Yum in G &S "The Mikado" opening March 31st. She has also taken up directing opera scenes and has put on her own production of "Student Directed Opera Scenes" at the conservatory. She is also currently writing a new farce comedic opera based on combining characters of various operas into one.... more to come later. Julie final performance at the Boston Conservatory will be her voluntary Grad Recital in May with dancers, musicians, and the finale from Massenet's Thais.

19 year old, Johnathan McCullough, from Sherman Oaks, California, is a Freshman Baritone studying voice at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia under Joan Patenaude-Yarnell. In the past two years he has performed with LA Opera in their yearly Cathedral Project under the baton of Maestro James Conlon. Johnathan is the recipient of many awards including; the Los Angeles Music Center's Spotlight Award in Classical Voice for 2010, the Cerritos Performing Arts Center's Friends of the Arts Award, an NFAA Young ARTS Finalist, as well as a Classical Singer Magazine Competition Finalist. At Curtis he has sung roles that include; Les Mamelles de Tiresias (Gendarme), The Cunning Little Vixen (Cricket) and La Tragedie de Carmen (Garcia) for the Curtis Opera Theatre; for the Los Angeles Opera: Le nozze di Figaro (Antonio), Rigoletto (Herald), L'elisir d'amore (Chorus) for Center Stage Opera in Canoga Park, Calif.; opera scenes at SongFest and Pacific Opera Institute. Other roles in opera and musical theatre productions in Los Angeles; and, as a soloist, appearances at the Hawaii Performing Arts, and Bear Valley Music Festivals. He was recently asked to return to the National Children's Chorus a guest artist in their performance at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica. He will attend the Aspen Summer Music Festival this summer on a full scholarship.
